Hi, I'm Katherine Bowman from Iowa and I'm blessed to be living out the dreams that the Lord has placed in my heart! Having a photography business has been a dream of mine for many years. I feel that now is the right time to take the next steps and make it a reality. I am passionate about my relationship with Jesus Christ, my family, Brasil, staying fit, traveling, and of course photography. This blog is a reflection of myself. If you have any questions, feel free to email me or leave a comment below. Thanks for stopping by!

Spring Showers

One thing I love about Iowa is the change of seasons.  Each one comes just in time, before I get too tired of the one before.  One thing I love about spring is the thunderstorms and the fresh flowers.  I like to hear rain on the roof at night or thunder rumble through the sky.  And I especially love to see new flowers blooming after a hard winter, and Iowa certainly had a hard and LONG winter!  Here are some photos from the farm earlier this month!!

Last night I read in a Joyce Meyer magazine about one of her mission organizations in India that gives free medical care to people that live in the slums.  I was the most surprised by the illnesses that they had... many that could have been avoided by a healthy diet.  For example, most of the people just eat rice and bread, with little or no protein.  The foods aren't washed properly and they get parasites and worms.  Sewage isn't disposed of properly which infects their drinking water.  One thing that really struck me though was children who would eat mud. They were anemic and because of that, they craved dirt which had traces of iron that their body desperately needs.
When I read about living conditions in other countries, I am very thankful for what I have.  The Lord has blessed America whether we see it or not, it's true.  So I'm thankful for my small but cozy home, my family, my job, food to eat and my ability to worship my Lord and Savior.  And I'm thankful for all those who fight and have fought for this county.

Despite the lack of luxuries and even shoes, this boy had a smile a mile wide!!

Make "Someday" Today

One of my downfalls is chocolate, Dove chocolate to be exact!  I was at a meeting for work yesterday and they had a HUGE candy jar full of goodies!  I had to restrain myself from taking fist fulls and stuffing my pockets like a little kid.  So I just chose 2 Dove chocolates.  The first one I ripped open, but by the second one, I remembered that the wrappers have sayings on the inside.  And low and behold, it was just what i needed to hear... "Make 'Someday' Today".

There are two things that I love and have been putting off.  One would be my desire to do photography full time and two would be to get back into shape.  This desk job that I've had for 21 months now is getting to me in more ways than one.  Not only have I gained 10 pounds and stopped my routine of lifting, but I haven't taken the time to pursue photography how I want to.  And I've noticed that it's important to do the things that you enjoy.  It's good for your outlook on things and good for your sanity! :)

So, I'm going to make my someday today.  I'm going to persevere at getting up early to workout or MAKE time in the evenings to do it.  I'm going to work on my photography skills and learn as much as I can from other photographers - and not be afraid to ask.   I'm going to make my someday today.

Fresh Rolls

I woke up this morning thinking about shopping in Brazil and how most of the stores don't have doors, just big gates they pull down at night.  One of the things I like the most about that country is that everything seems open, and inviting.  The doors to homes are open, the windows are open. No screens, just wooden shutters to shut at night.  I like that.  I like the tile on the floors of every room and one the walls of the kitchen and bathrooms.  I like the granite counter tops in every home.  I like breakfasts of fresh rolls, meat and cheese and fresh coffee.  I like the simple way of living where "things" don't seem to matter as much.

One of my favorite things about getting up early in the morning is taking the time to watch the first few minutes of The Today Show.  Friday morning was the 5th day of Where In The World is Matt Lauer??  This is one of my favorite times to watch the show!!  How cool would it be to travel to 5 different counties in 5 days??  Ok, well maybe not so cool to do it in 5 days, but I would love to go to 5 different countries!!  If you want to check out some of the clips from the sure be sure to click here!!
